"We may have lots of processes to ensure that our work is tracked properly, then we have reality that due to many factors - human and otherwise - can affect how processes are viewed (barrier or success levers). Then there's organisational politics as well as individual preferences that will muddle the whole idea of pristine process flows."
This was a conversation I had with a colleague the other day when I was discussing the value of balancing processes with the situation where it is implemented. We all want to implement the latest and the most prominent processes as journaled or featured in respected magazines, but if reality does not suit that processes and culture change is not factored in toto then you know what happens next. Dissatisfaction may result. It may not and you're lucky if it doesn't but being prepared if it doesn't happen should also be included in the strategic plan. Just a thought to share with you today as you head out to a long weekend and as some are already developing strategic plans for the next year.
